The Surf Ranch Showdown

Youngs guns fly in the tub … maybe better than the tour surfers.

It’s no secret that Kelly has been under the hood of his Lemoore California creation making a few adjustments after the launch of the Waco pool. This includes a new launch pad at the end of the wave, a crumbly section which drizzles onto the face of the wave while it guns down the line.

Perfect for those who possess flexible limbs and bountiful cartilage to huck themselves off. Enter Quicksilver’s Young Guns finale, four groms with froth beards bigger than Santa Claus were whisked to Lemoore to surf a freestyle showdown event at the pool and the results were incredible.

My opinion is that these kids surfed the pool much better than anything we saw during the Founders Cup event, sure they had the end section to work with, but even the turns seemed harder and longer in arc.

Perhaps there has been a speed adjustment and it’s now easier to tee off without fear of being caught behind. Whatever the case, this has me quietly excited to check out the Tour event after Chopes.
