Ah the Wedge, that cataclysmic collision of sand, swell and breakwall in Newport California. You can side-wind in on a one-footer and back door an eight-foot sledgehammer, or take the elevator shaft straight down on one of the raging peaks. It’s close to shore, it’s dramatic and it’s dangerous, but you might just get the barrel of your life if you're lucky. It recently turned on for what they called the La Bomba swell.
