Bob McTavish remembers when Bruce Brown and Phil Edwards came out to Australia in the 60s to screen their film Barefoot Adventure. It was the first surf film Bob had ever seen and he remembers the profound impact it had on him. They were surfing full-time, it was non-competitive, colourful and most importantly of all, full of fun. It set Bob on the path to living the lifestyle he had always dreamed of and he never looked back.
When an invite from Korean surfer Yong-Jin Jang for Bob to travel to South Korea to shape a few boards with local surfboard shaper Sang-Moon Lee, he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to head over and share the stoke, and hopefully, have the same sort of impact on the young Korean surfers that Bruce Brown and Phil Edwards had on him.
