It’s that time of year again; when subtropical lows start spinning coils of swell in the direction of the Superbank and the surfing masses descend on Coolangatta like a fibreglass flash mob. While more than a few from the southern states were tempted to fly in for the first swell of the season, a local cast of thousands ensured no wave went un-ridden. Not surprisingly some of surfing’s most ruthless tactics were on display at the Snapper gladiator’s pit.
