Watch: Gold Coast Madness

The essential edit from what would’ve been the Corona Open window.

It was back in late March that the world’s best competitive surfers began filing into the Gold Coast for the start of their 2020 season. Unfortunately for them, they weren’t the only thing making their way to OZ. Covid-19 had also hit our shores and was spreading like wildfire.

The event was canceled, borders shuttered and social distancing implemented. Luckily, before shit got really real, a few epic swells rolled on into the Gold Coast, and those surfers who were in town for the event, along with all the regular local standouts, feasted on unbelievable waves at a variety of locations.

Here Red Bull offers an envy-inducing edit of the best waves that went down during this period.
