Watch: Highlights from the February Snapper, Greenmount & Kirra Swells

Spoiler alert: It was pretty damn good.

It was sometime around the beginning of February that the Southern Gold Coast points awoke from a lengthy slumber. Well, Greenmount and Kirra at least. While those two dished up some dreamy tubes to a wave starved crew, the normally ferocious Snapper was nowhere to be seen. A lack of sand behind the rock meant the wave that normally sits at the top of the famous Superbank run was drowning under too much water.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, however, and it was a whole different story. A slab of sand had filtered into position behind the rock between swells and in late Feb, where there was a deep hole only weeks before, there were now backless below seal level beasts erupting behind the rock.

These two clips from veteran Gold Coast filmer Craig Halsted aka Surf On mars, capture the two different swell events, and an all-star cast getting stuck in.
