Watch: Koa Smith Surf Perfect J-Bay in Boardshorts

Maximum shrinkage level engaged.

If you exist in a space that even remotely revolves around surfing, then you’ve probably heard the name Wim Hof by now. The Dutch Athlete promotes the ability to tap into your inner power by plunging into freezing water and awakening age-old mechanisms related to survival and basic function we’ve laid to waste by constantly regulating our environment. You’ve probably got a friend who ritualistically plunges themselves into a wheelie bin full of ice, or perhaps you get into it yourself.

Koa Smith is a devotee of the practice, and it seems he’s grown tired of simply jumping into an ice bath with a stopwatch. In this clip, he tries a new method of getting the juices flowing by hitting a freezing cold Jeffreys Bay line-up in boardies.
