Watch: Mason Ho’s Tribute to His Iconic Uncle, Derek Ho

The final five years in the life of a legend.

We can only imagine the grief rippling through the Ho family after the loss of Uncle Derek. Still, Mason and good pal Rory Pringle managed to piece together an epic tribute of the legend that was Derek Ho. It features clips from the last five years of Derek’s life and shows why the first Hawaiian world champ held such respect in the waves of the North Shore.

The following was posted by Mason on Instagram as the clip was released:

There are no words to describe how I feel about the passing of my Uncle Derek. The waves of emotion are real… Just like he was. We shared the most beautiful memories together and I know a lot of you guys did too. He touched so many hearts. I love hearing stories about him and he always kept our family tight. Uncle Derek is everything to me and I love him with all my heart. Thank you to all who have reached out sending their love and condolences. It means the world to our whole family! LOVE you family on the hill. May his energy live on forever. Aloha
