It was the ‘shark incident’ seen around the world. Mick Fanning and Julian Wilson had just paddled out for the final of the 2015 J-Bay Open and were waiting for their opening rides to roll through, when live on screen Mick was set upon by a large White Shark. We all know the story, we’ve all seen the footage.
However, here Mick and his shaper Darren Handley give us a different perspective as they dissect not only the incident itself, but also the board Mick was riding at the time. A board that took him to victory at Bells earlier in the year. A board that is now known as ‘yum yum yellow’.
