Watch: NFL and surfing bathe together

Kelly and Drew Brees’ pool party through the eyes of the NFL.

Apart from a playground for the extremely deep pocketed surfer, Kelly’s pool seems to be utilised as a PR machine more than anything. Whether this is purely by Kelly’s hand itself or whether the WSL are pulling a few strings can only be speculated, but it seems there have been more land based professional athletes than the aquatic variety surfing the pool of late. A smart play to cross pollinate, send surfing clips viral through the social veins of the world’s biggest sports.

First came the golfers, and now it’s the NFL taking a dip. In this edit from the NFL network, we watch New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees learn to surf on the chlorinated peelers of the Surf Ranch.

It’s not pretty to watch as a surfer, but we’ve gotta be honest, the part where Kelly rides in the tube with the ball clutched to his bosom before passing it back to Drew was actually pretty cool.

What’s interesting to note is that at this point the clip has had just over 9k views, with the average on the NFL network’s channel sitting anywhere from 20k to 120k. Seems it hasn’t yet gained too much traction with the NFL fans.

Who’s next? We want to see some Ballers in there. A slam dunk off the end section would go viral for sure.
