Watch: Young Aussie Stylist Oscar Langburne Flow Through a Few Sessions at Home

Where does style fit into your surf appreciation criteria?

As someone who appreciates style above almost all else in surfing, I find it very easy to watch young Oscar Langburne do his thing in the water.

Sure he’s not setting the world on fire with giant full rotations or throwing himself into violent contortions with complete decimation of a section his only agenda, but he sure can flow, and that’s a skill which is just as hard to master as the most technical of manoeuvres.

Plus, the kids only young, he’s got plenty of time to experiment with his surfing and take it to new places. Which we’re starting to capture glimpses of here. But ultimately it’s up to Oscar how he wants to ride a wave, and right now we’re fans.

What’s your judging criteria when it comes to judging a surf flick? Are you all about the power, the progression, or, like me does positioning, timing and flow set you off?
